Finland Residence Permit for Indian Students
Finland does not issue a traditional student visa. Instead, Indian students apply for a Residence Permit for Studies through the Finnish Immigration Service (Migri):
- Apply online at: enterfinland.fi (Finnish Immigration Service online portal)
- Processing time: Approximately 30 to 90 days. Apply as soon as you receive your admission letter.
- University admission letter — conditional or final offer from a Finnish university
- Proof of funds: EUR 560/month minimum (approximately Rs 51,000/month) for the duration of your studies, or a scholarship letter
- Health insurance: Valid European Health Insurance or private health insurance
- Passport: Valid for at least 12 months beyond your intended stay
- Biometrics: Visit the nearest VFS Global centre in India (Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore)
- After arrival, register at the Finnish Population Register (DVV) and obtain your Finnish personal identity code
- You can work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and unlimited during holidays
After Graduation — Staying and Working in Finland
