By GoWest Education Counsellors · May 2026 · 11 min read

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is the gold-standard exam for MBA admissions at top business schools globally. In 2023, GMAC launched the shorter GMAT Focus Edition — now the only version available. This complete guide covers the 2026 GMAT format, scoring, section-wise preparation, MBA score requirements and whether you should take GMAT or GRE.

What is GMAT Focus Edition (2026)?

The GMAT Focus Edition replaced the original 3.5-hour GMAT in 2023. Key changes: Geometry removed from Quant, Grammar removed from Verbal, and a new Data Insights section added. The test is now 2 hours 15 minutes and fully computer-adaptive.
